I’m John. I’m experienced in Research & Development, bringing design concepts through definition, prototype, testing, and validation in both academia and industry settings. I have hands-on experience in medical device product development, especially with FDA Class II devices, through working with multiple internal and external stakeholders across different fields and functions.
As a Mechanical Engineer & Medical Device Developer: I lead design and development of mechanical assemblies from concept through validation, ensuring regulatory compliance with FDA requirements and industry standards. I conduct tolerance analyses, develop test protocols, and coordinate across R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to bring products from prototype to production.
As a Roboticist: I develop motion planning algorithms, implement control systems, and design robotic mechanisms for applications in manipulation tasks. I bridge theoretical frameworks with practical implementation, translating theoretical understanding into functional systems.
As a Creative Problem Solver: I apply design thinking principles across theatrical production, graphic design, and product design. I aim to bring user-centered perspective, visual communication skills, and project coordination experience to technical challenges.
I’m passionate about solving problems that create tangible positive impacts on my communities. Within the healthcare field, I am motivated by creating medical technologies that measurably improve surgical outcomes and patient care, working to deliver systems that clinicians find valuable and trust. I find myself thrilled to be at the intersection of theory and practice, translating cutting-edge technologies to functional applications. I recognize the merit of novel research and work enthusiastically to incorporate it into daily work, from product design to process improvement.
I’m a firm believer in continuous improvement, professionally and personally. I constantly strive to further my skillset and way of thinking through seeking constructive feedback from teammates and enrolling in further education. I enjoy a working environment where I’m challenged intellectually. I value a collaborative, supportive, respectful, and diverse environment where everyone expresses their authentic self through their work to work towards a common goal.
Beyond professional pursuits, I stay active through HIIT workouts and weekender-style traveling. I consider myself an advocate for public transit and human-centric urban development. My current creative expression is sewing and fashion design. I’m volunteering to support the next generation of leaders as a Chapter Advisor on Programming for Beta Theta Pi at WPI.
